If you disagree with it, simply disable it, but don't pigeonhole everyone to your ideals.

What I'm getting at is giving the consumer the option to choose. I would love to have a character that Q&S Teleport was enabled, and maybe one where I wanted a bit more immersion with more gametime without it enabled. If I could customize that, well that would be great. Some love that slow OCD grind, whereas I would prefer less grind and more skill situations such as combat etc, vs long treks. Making a structured bi-directional cave system does not make you "Pro." It means you spend a lot of game time on a planet you will likely abandon anyhow eventually.Īgain, at base value, this is an argument over mechanics. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to make a tiered/platformed ascent or descent.

HOW TO RETURN TO THE SHIP STARBOUND HOW TO
We all know how to dig, again being a pissant with "Learn to dig, scrub" makes ya look a wanker. You have to realize that your 'ideals' are not the ideals of the collective, but a part of it. Welp I wouldn't go so far as to call my gaming time 'precious,' but I can say it is limited, again a low retort, but it's to be expected on a forum. If you find a large cavern and want to explore a bit, just use torches to mark the way back to your stairway. You could use platforms and dig straight down but in my experience this is more time consuming, and prone to falling accidents.
HOW TO RETURN TO THE SHIP STARBOUND MOD
X If you want everything handed to you on a silver platter cause of your "precious gaming time" then wait for someone to mod easy mode into the game for you, or do it yourself (which I'm guessing you won't, due to the aforementioned precious gaming time).įor those who want the easy, legitimate way: dig down in 9 or so block increments, digging over to the left/right each step to create a tall "staircase" that you can jump back up. In this case, the S&Q option would make my gameplay more enjoyable, whereas some other person may have more time to invest and wants more of an immersive challenge. If I have to spend 10-15 mins scaling back up to my ship each time, that is an inefficient use of my limited gaming time. While the drama queens pule and moan over semantics, why not just offer the option to toggle "Q&S teleporting" on/off in options. Spend 15 mins on a return trip? or suicide and make up for the lost pixels in half the time? One broken mechanic cannot be replaced with yet another broken mechanic or lack thereof altogether.

I understand the S&Q method being abused, but there has to be a compromise to make exploring underground less of a grindy tedium or a fool's chore. In 5-10 mins I could easily recoup those lost pixels. if I died, the same was accomplished but at a loss of 1/3 of my pixels.įor the sake or argument, a person being of sound mind and having a modicum of efficient time management would rather suicide than spend 15-20 mins returning to the surface. So, if I save and quit to return to the ship, it was almost too easy like instant gratification. We all have gone on mining benders deep, deep and tunneled for literally an hour or more for shinies. There has to be a compromise between skill and redundancy.
